Lifeskills Tool Box Training

The Life Skills Toolbox is a comprehensive 18-hour program designed specifically for young workers, apprentices, and cadets entering the workforce. Delivered through six interactive 3-hour modules, this practical program equips participants with essential life skills that extend far beyond the workplace.

Core topics include:

  • building resilience and emotional intelligence,
  • maintaining physical and mental wellbeing,
  • developing financial literacy and budgeting skills,
  • mastering effective communication techniques,
  • understanding workplace health and safety, and
  • learning how to support MATES who may be struggling.

Each module combines evidence-based strategies with real-life scenarios, giving participants tools they can immediately apply in their personal and professional lives. The program offers maximum flexibility – it can be delivered as a complete six-module program or as standalone sessions tailored to meet the specific needs of different organisations and audiences, ensuring relevant and impactful learning outcomes for every participant.

Workplace Visits: Conversations that Matter

Our workplace visits are designed to reach blue-collar and trade workers right where they work, with practical tools and conversation starters for suicide prevention. We know that workers in industries like construction often face unique challenges, from the high-stress nature of the job to long hours and physical demands.

Our team visits workplaces to talk openly about mental health and suicide prevention, creating a safe space where workers can learn how to look out for their mates. We share real-life tips on what “checking in” looks like, how to recognise warning signs, and the importance of simply being there. With each visit, we’re breaking down barriers and equipping workers with the knowledge to support each other—because sometimes, a simple conversation can be life-changing.

Sharing Our Lived Experience: Taylor, Mackenzie, and Leesa’s Story

At I Got You, we understand that the pain of losing someone to suicide is profound and long-lasting. Leesa, Taylor, and Mackenzie—the heart of our organisation—personally know this pain, having lost Josh to suicide. By sharing their lived experience, they offer a raw, authentic perspective on the emotional impact of suicide, the importance of mental health support, and the power of connection.

Leesa, as the co-founder of I Got You, shares her journey of grief and healing, turning her loss into a source of strength and hope for others. Taylor and Mackenzie, too, offer their voices to help break the silence around suicide and create a safe space where others can share their struggles. Through their stories, they encourage individuals to open up, seek help, and show up for those around them—because understanding and connection can make all the difference in healing.

Funding Suicide Prevention ASIST Training for the Building and Construction Industry

Mental health matters on the job site as much as safety gear does. That's why we’re proud to fund ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) for workers in the building and construction industry. This internationally recognised training equips participants with the skills to intervene in suicide crises and provide immediate support to those struggling. ASIST training empowers individuals to recognise the signs of someone in distress and to engage them in a supportive and compassionate conversation, helping to prevent suicide before it’s too late. We believe this training is a vital tool for workers who often face high-stress environments, and it helps create a culture of care and responsibility within workplaces. By partnering with industry leaders and trade organisations, we’re ensuring that mental health is given the same priority as physical safety, contributing to a safer, more supportive work environment.
